Where Every Slice Tells a Story

Punch Pizza was born in 2009 from a simple obsession: recreating the wood-fired perfection of Naples right here in the heart of Minnesota.

Founder Marco Vitale spent three years training under master pizzaiolos in Naples, learning the ancient art of Neapolitan dough-making — the precise hydration ratios, the 72-hour fermentation, the high-heat bake in a 900°F wood-fired oven. He brought that knowledge, and an irreplaceable passion, back to Wayzata.

2009

The First Flame

Marco Vitale opens Punch Pizza in a 40-seat space on Wayzata Blvd with a single imported wood-fired oven and a menu of six classic Neapolitan pies.

2011

Best Pizza in MN

Twin Cities Magazine names Punch Pizza the best Neapolitan pizza in Minnesota. The waiting list grows to 90 minutes on weekends, and the team doubles overnight.

2013

Catering & Events Launch

Overwhelming demand from weddings and corporate events leads to the launch of Punch Pizza Catering — complete with mobile wood-fired oven service for up to 500 guests.

2016

Community Kitchen Program

Punch Pizza launches its youth culinary apprenticeship program in partnership with Wayzata High School, mentoring the next generation of pizza makers and restaurateurs.

2019

Full Renovation & Expansion

A major renovation doubles seating capacity to 90, adds a craft cocktail bar, a private dining room for 20, and a second Valoriani oven to meet growing demand.

2024

Online Ordering & New Menu

Punch Pizza launches full online ordering with delivery across the Wayzata area, and unveils an expanded menu of seasonal specials and gluten-conscious options.
